DR. SANTA MARIA CONTRIBUTES TO THE AMERICAN JOURNAL OF SPORTS MEDICINE

Dr. Santa Maria and the physicians of the Sports Medicine associates have contributed to a newly published article in the American Journal of Sports Medicine

This FDA approved the randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blinded study, spearheaded by the first author Dr. Jaime Garza, MD, DDS FACS, a SMASA associate, represents a significant milestone in the field of regenerative cellular therapy for the treatment of osteoarthritis.

This is the first study using autologous regenerative cells from the patient's own adipose tissue to treat pain in arthritic knees to meet study endpoints. This particular regenerative cell therapy for osteoarthritis showed no serious adverse events at two years and a significant reduction in pain at one year.

The study was supported by GID BIO whose proprietary technology allows for the isolation and concentration of regenerative cells following a minor liposuction procedure in less than two hours.

An FDA approved Phase III pivotal study begins soon at Tulane University School of Medicine and in San Antonio with Dr. Jaime Garza serving again as the principal investigator with additional trial sites participating nationwide!

Call us if you are interested in participating in this exciting FDA trial.
