IF I TEAR MY ACL, IS MY CAREER OVER?
There's a misconception that if you tear my ACL, your career is over. But nothing can be further from the truth.
We could name literally dozens of athletes that we've taken care of that have gone back to a very productive career.
Now, the old number that was kind of thrown around over the years is that "90% of athletes could return." That's probably a bit high to be honest.
What the current literature seems to show is about 3/4 of athletes that have an ACL injury, are able to return to their previous level of play, which is not as incredible as 100%, but it's certainly better than "My career is over."
We take care of UTSA, St. Mary's, and Trinity University, and we see recruits all the time that have had a history of an ACL reconstruction—and coaches don't even blink anymore!
